| Apache HTTP Server |
| The Apache HTTP Server Project is an effort to develop and maintain an open-source HTTP server for modern operating systems including UNIX and Windows NT. The goal of this project is to provide a secure, efficient and extensible server that provides HTTP services in sync with the current HTTP standards. Apache has been the most popular web server on the Internet since April of 1996. The August 2002 Netcraft Web Server Survey found that 63% of the web sites on the Internet are using Apache, thus making it more widely used than all other web servers combined. The Apache HTTP Server is a project of the Apache Software Foundation. |

| Apache is one of the best HTTP servers available. Fully scalable and full-featured it is open source, it supports all major operation systems, has lots of additional modules. Over 60% sites through the Internet have chosen Apache. It is recommended to update to Apache 2.0.x version though developers still support and update 1.3.x branch. Sourcecode, 1.3.x branch, other OSes versions and additional modules are available at http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/ Compiled binaries due to export restriction do not support SSL. Installator is in MSI format so you may need Windows Installer (already installed in WinME/2k/XP)... |
