ipMonitor 8 is a secure real-time network monitoring software designed to proactively Monitor, Alert and Recover critical applications, servers and infrastructure equipment around the clock. Quality Assurance, Windows, and Uptime Monitors measure the availability, responsiveness and performance quality of your Windows®, Microsoft Exchange, SQL, Site and Transaction Servers, as well as your Cisco® routers, network switches, back-up power protection systems, environmental monitors, etc. System Resource Monitors test bandwidth usage, battery consumption, CPU load, drive space and memory usage on a local machine, remote computer or SNMP-enabled device. When quality of service degrades, thresholds are exceeded or failures occur, ipMonitor Alerts administrators and takes corrective action. This program speeds up the Internet browsing by inserting data on IP addresses into local hosts file, which saves time for sending requests to DNS servers. DNS server is something like a database which holds relations between names of computers and their IP addresses, e.g. www.listsoft.com - 209.1.144.202 Every time you enter a site's address your computer sends a request to your provider's DNS server, asking for an IP address. If provider's DNS doesn't know it then it'll send a request to an "upper" server, etc. Thus waiting for an address can take up to few seconds. This time is what will be saved by this program. The first file is 3.0 version, the second one - is an update to 3.01. In order to work the program requires VB6 libraries. |

You cannot "bring up" sites with the program. That is not what it is for. It is supposed to speed up your sites when you use IE or Netscape. It looks up the actual addresses of the URLs ahead of time and does the lookups in advance. Then if you go to those sites a lot, they will be faster since DNS lookups won't be used. This is not a browser, but a utility. Version: 4.2 | Date: 2004-06-30 | Courtney |
